If you're a Halloween Addict like myself then not only have you read Ray Bradbury's classic book The Halloween Tree, but you've probably also seen the animated TV special from 1993.
What's that?
You haven't?
Well you SHOULD.
And here's why...
1) First of all it was narrated by Mr. Bradbury himself and he adapted his own novel for the animated film. To have the original author represented as your Narrator and involved to such a degree brings a personal connection that you won't get with other animated adaptations.
2) The film won an Emmy and they don't tend to give awards to things that suck.
3) Though it was released on VHS years ago and pops up in October on Cartoon Network sometimes, it has been out-of-print and hard to find. Plus the YouTube copies go up and come down faster than autumn
leaves.
4) Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy, does the voice of the sinister Mr. Moundshroud. That's the best casting since Orson Welles did Unicron in The Transformers Movie (that's P.M.B.-- pre-Michael Bay).
4) Having a digital copy to sit on your shelf alongside Garfield's Halloween Special and It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown will bring a smile to your face... as it did to mine.
So GO. HERE. Buy. NOW.

Read the book for the first time several months ago. Loved it, and now I want to see this, too!
