The PEANUTS Cast Don A 'stache for Chocolate Milk: The Official Drink of Halloween

For the first time in years, a web banner ad caught my attention and that led me to the print ad (see left).

It had the Peanuts characters in Halloween masks and costumes and sporting chocolate milk mustaches.
I did my part and clicked through out of curiosity and quickly learned that chocolate milk is the Official Drink of Halloween.

Though the campaign isn't new, the fact that the Charles M. Schulz's Peanuts gang is involved, is.
Why?
Because it's the first time in 15 years that all the main characters have appeared together in a print advertising campaign.

The idea behind the ad is simple:  there are a ton of sweets during the Halloween holiday season (don't we know it!) including sugary soft drinks so why not swap out those for nutrient rich, low-fat chocolate milk?
"Chocolate milk is a nutritious treat in disguise.  So delicious it's SCARY."
See what they did there?
Bam.  Halloweenized (a term I just made up).

Frankly, I can't think of a better group of animated folk to trumpet chocolate milk as the official drink of Halloween.
Because of the everlasting love for "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown," (celebrating it's 45TH ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR) the Peanuts kids seem like the natural choice for such a campaign.

Plus, Halloween Addicts get to see more of the gang doing their Halloween-thing in fantastic ad-graphics all over stores.
Check out the "Pick some up for your little monsters." ad to the left.
Snoopy sleeping on a pumpkin.
Marcie dressed in a milk container costume.
Peppermint Patty dressed as a cow.
And all of it outlined in that fantastic orange.

Back in April we learned that Ghost Face is "The Icon of Halloween," In the '90s Coors Light and Elvira informed us that it was "The Official Beer of Halloween" and now I know that Chocolate Milk is "The Official Drink of Halloween."
At this rate, Halloween will be trademarked-out by 2017.
And who's on this "Official... of Halloween" committee?
I want to be on it.
