Krispy Kreme's Halloween Doughnuts 2011

Oooooh boy.
On the heels of the Baskin Robbins Halloween flavor announcement last week, we've now got THIS to contend with.
Krispy Kreme has their 2011 Halloween doughnuts out for a limited time.

I'm not sure if Krispy Kreme is a national chain, but to say that you should plan travel around getting these doughnuts is not absurd.

Affectionately known as the "Krispy Skremes" (see what they did there?), the three specialty doughnuts have their own website:  krispyskremes.com HERE

And what a website it is!
On the activities page, there are downloadable coloring pages, instructions on Halloween-themed games to play and even a jack o' lantern doughnut MASK you can print and wear... for that "Jack o' Lantern-Doughnut-Man" costume you've uh... always dreamed of.

As for the doughnuts themselves, the featured trio are:  Chocolate-Iced with Halloween Sprinkles, Spider-Web and the masterpiece:  Jack o' Lantern.

Just look at that jack o' lantern doughnut!
It's covered with beautiful, perfect frosting.
The frosting is a bright orange with a decent triangular (no googly-eyes) jack-carve in black frosting--- AND a doughnut STEM on the pumpkin!
It's details like that that elevate a doughnut from a half-assed attempt to cash in on the holiday to a genuine embracing and celebration of Halloween.  Great job KK.

Also worth mentioning is a Krispy Kreme costume (or is it "Kostume"?) contest, accepting entries through November 4th.  According to the site:
"...upload a photo of your costume-clad family that incorporates any Krispy Kreme product(s) in a creative way. Five winners will be selected based on creativity, originality, and incorporation of a Krispy Kreme product(s) in an appropriate, family friendly manner."
"An appropriate, family friendly manner."
So, no, you can't do your "Texas Doughnut Massacre" or "Doughnut Flasher" costume.
Sicko.

Krispy Kreme did WAY better than Dunkin Donuts with the Halloween spirit this year!

I think there's actually one down the street from work here... thanks Steve, there goes this week's workout routine. ;)

Pretty sweet! Brings to mind those old Halloween theme dunkin donuts.

In the pacific northwest, we don't really have krispy kreme, but we do have a local donut chain of equal mythological greatness: Voodoo Donuts.

That's right, I can go downtown anytime of the year, and get myself a voodoo doll donut. U jelly?

Strange: I checked the DD site but it didn't look like they were doing anything in particular.
And you're WELCOME. We'll both go as 'Gluttony' from 'Seven' for our costumes this year.

wicKED: Yepper.

Justine: Absolutely. Good idea.

devilhorns: Me too.

Mantan: Oooooh, sir. I HAVE BEEN to the Voodoo Doughnuts. I was surprised I liked the Grape Ape as much as I did.

Oh wow, oh wow....we have several Krispy Kreme stores here where you can watch them moving along the conveyor belt, dropping into the vat of hot oil, and get smothered in that warm sugary glaze! There are few things that can compare to a hot KK donut right off the line...yum! So I am now a gal on a mission....thank you! I will bringing these to my daughter's Volleyball Tournie this weekend! LOVE that pumpkin one...he's FAB!
