Boy those PopCap peeps really know how to get their Halloween on.
Not only do their employees have great costume ideas (like the "Action Movie Poster," read about it HERE) but now the PopCap team is showing you how to make your own costumes from the various Plants Vs. Zombies characters.
And they MADE the game, so they should know!
For the uninitiated, Plants Vs. Zombies is a video game known as a "Tower Defense game." Here's how it works: Zombies are attacking your home and you set up various types of plants to repel their attack (and thereby "defending" your "tower" See? And that's one to grow on).
As the zombies march forward from one side of the screen to the other, they eat your plants. So you've got to plant more and keep them alive to stave off the waves. If the zombies reach your home, you're dead.
Game over.
It's got a clever sense of humor, great cartoony graphics, and --like most of the PopCap games-- is highly addictive.
If you HAVE played it, you're most likely a fan and want me to skip to the point of this post.
Well here it is: over on the PopCap blog HERE are some step-by-step instructions and pics to show you how to make a couple of the iconic plants (namely the Peashooter and the Sunflower) and a couple of the wackier zombies (Balloon Zombie and Zombie Bobsled Team).
The ideas are simple, smart and well delivered.
But most importantly they leave room for a crafty Halloween Addict to expand and improve.
For instance: the Zombie Bobsled Team... really should have some zombie makeup on. Just sayin'. I would advise gray with a slight greenish tint facepaint on any exposed skin to match the zombies in the game. And maybe pop in some "inbred teeth" or other rotten looking dentures too.
Check it all out on the PopCap blog HERE. And if you come up with something better, e-mail them (blog@popcap.com) with pics and I'm sure you'll wind up on the break-room bulletin board in the PopCap offices.

Just found your blog and I love it! Great work and great news, I'll spread the word. So glad to hear Plants Vs. Zombies is expanding their horizions :) As if the game wasn't cool enough!
Frog Queen: I agree, a fantastic game!
Christina: Well, welcome! And thanks!
I don't play the game, but I'm attending a Plants vs Zombies Halloween party. I'm planning to post my costume (I'm going to be a hypnoshroom) once it's actually made so i hope it works out! Thanks for the inspiration.
