I've been scouring the net high and low this year trying to find the coolest Halloween merchandise being peddled. Imagine my surprise when I stopped by Godiva Chocolates to find their 2011 line of Halloween candy to have a few noteworthy items.
First up is their "NEW Milk Chocolate Mummy." They capitalized "new" not me, so they must be serious about it.
It deserves mentioning for its simple, classic design and the incorporation of TWO different colors of milk chocolate in the same piece! I haven't seen that before. On top of that it's got good lines and a high amount of detail (look how crisp the "Godiva" name and the bandages on the mummy stand out). A+.
My next favorite are their "Assorted Halloween Chocolate Lollipops." Available individually or in a 4 pack as shown, again there's some great use of the two-color chocolates layered on each other like in the green stem on the chocolate pumpkin and the chocolate bat on the orange full moon.
My favs of the four are the simple but ever-creepy skull (that ain't no googly-eyed friendly skull) and the bat on the orange moon.
An honorable mention goes to the color scheme and artwork on this chocolates box. Though the chocolates inside are kinda boring (is that supposed to be an "ear" and a "werewolf medallion"???) the box itself really looks great with the use of bright orange, dark purple and shades of blue and gray.
I can't think of a Godiva chocolates near me, but if I were to stroll past one, I'd probably pop in for a skull pop or mummy bar.
Ironically that's the name of the new Halloween Sitcom I'll be pitching: "Skull Pop and Mummy Bar." It's all about two parents raising their kids in Halloweentown, USA. With a zombie Don Knotts playing the wacky neighbor...
