I've seen a number of these types of recipes. When I say "these types" I mean "gross looking but potentially delicious" Halloween recipes.
As I was saying 'til I was interrupted by my quantifying self: I've seen these types of recipes and believe they're awesome, but can't imagine eating them myself.
Don't get me wrong: I love meatloaf... I love gross horror movies... but I can't... I can't eat this... without some Heinz 57 or somethin'...
BUT YOU CAN!
Thanks to the fine, fine folk at NotMartha.org, you can learn how to make meatloaf with cheese on top in the shape of a monstrous hand... and then eat it.
The presentation of the hand on the mashed potatoes is great. I could almost see Swanson putting out a line of "Halloween TV Dinners" every October featuring mini Salisbury steak Meat Hands pushed in taters, a side of carrots (they're orange!) and a pumpkin pie desert square. Hmmm... not a bad idea. Dear Swanson, you're WELCOME.
But the real nail in the coffin (ha!) of awesome is the onion used as exposed wrist bone. Inspired. Truly.
Check out the whole recipe with in-depth how-to pics HERE at NotMartha.org.

The onion is a nice touch. But I'm with you. Just . . . no. :/
Haha, now that's twisted... I love it! Definitely passing this one along to the Mrs.
Absolutely perfect. Love the onion being used for the wrist bone.
I've seen this before, but never made it. *I* wouldn't exactly be inclined to eat it, but with an 8-year-old on his way to visit for Halloween, I think we kinda have to. I'd want it if I was 8.
Thanks for the info.
I think I'll just drink at that party.
I have never been so glad to be a vegetarian :D
Eewww! :)
Cheers!
Well, somehow my mom missed trying that one. Anything to get us to eat her meat loafs.
I've never eaten meat loaf again as an adult. I kid you not.
Halloween Spirit: Yep. Just say no.
Strange Kid: Ha. PLEASE take pictures to share if you make one!
Necropolis: Me too. It makes the meal. It makes the meal gross.
Rev. Dr. Potato: Yeah, get Mikey!
Autumn Forest: Wise choice. Did I mention we're serving meat hand cocktails?
The Frog Queen: It almost made ME a vegetarian... then I remembered meat not shaped like hands.
Raven176: I believe your trauma. Ketchup?
that was one of the experiments...
