Rob Zombie Drops New Halloween 2: H2 Trailer Online

Yahoo Movies got the exclusive trailer posting of the new Rob Zombie helmed sequel... to the remake-quel... to Halloween... entitled: H2.

All indicators from interviews with the former "shock rocker" say that this is going to be HIS film done HIS way. What you see on screen will be without any studio interference. Many are comparing the difference between Halloween and H2 to the difference between House of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects.

As someone who loves the original Halloween and understood and respected what Zombie did with the remake --even though I didn't really LIKE his choices-- I'm intrigued to see what he does unbridled. (You can read my thoughts on the Halloween re-imagining HERE.)

Though Zombie says it won't have anything to do with the original Halloween 2, there are a few things that are similar:
1) It's supposed to take place exactly where the last movie left off.
2) Scenes DO seem to take place in a hospital.
3) Some of the opening shots in the trailer give the film the "town" feel that Halloween 2 had.

What does NOT excite me are reports that Michael Myers does NOT have his mask for much of the film.
That... that is not kosher with me.

Will I go see it in the theater?
Yes.
Yes I will.
Many would scream "Why???!! Why will you support something that you think you won't like??!!!"
Answer: Because I MIGHT.
I might like it.
I look at these movies like comic book issues. The original Halloween film spawned a few comic mini-series, sometimes one to three issues in length, that further told the exploits of Michael Myers in the Halloween world.
That's all these movies are to me.
Extra stories.
Even if I don't like it, the original Halloween still sits on my shelf and I can watch it whenever I want.
AND by supporting the brand, I keep the Akkads in business so that someday I may get a Halloween movie that I really enjoy again.

Give the trailer a watch HERE, and surmise for yourself 'til the film hits theaters August 28th.

Scary Apparel: Print Brigade Horror Themed T-Shirts

It's getting warmer and you know what that signals the return of?
"Global warming?" says a voice in the back of the room.
Good answer, partial credit, but wrong.

The T-shirt.

Each summer brings a new crop of tees and what better way to show off your inner Halloween or horror addict than a new image stamped on breathable, wearable cotton.

As I've mentioned in past posts, being a Halloween Addict isn't just about wearing orange and black head to toe, it's about incorporating the Halloween spirit and imagery in your daily life... sometimes in subtle ways.

Print Brigade has a t-shirt that fits this bill perfectly. It's called "Too Much Horror Business" and it's a pearl black ink on a black tee with a doodle design across the front. As the site puts it:
Too much horror business driving late at night. We crammed everything awesome about horror and halloween into one shirt. What else could you ask for?
Looking at the detail you've got a jack o' lantern, a hockey mask, bats, skulls, ghosts, Freddy gloves and more.
Sort of "Where's Waldo" of horror iconography.
AND a recession-proof 10 bucks.

Also of interest are the horror-themed shirts "Scribble Skull" which features the hollow eyes nose and teeth of a skull on a blood red shirt... "Blood Guts and Gore" which is simply those very words etched in white on a dripping puddle of same... and "Tribute to Danzig" which is the ultimate homage to the Danzig lead singer making him the "O" in the word "GOD" sprawled in blood on the front.

The shirts are pretty cheap (Under $22!) and not something you're going to find in Urban Outfitters, lessening your chances of bumping into someone else on the sidewalk wearing the same thing.
We call that "Halloween Awkward."

A Haunting in Connecticut - True Ghost Story?

Well I still haven't seen it and the reviews are mixed, but The Haunting in Connecticut remained in the Top 10 at the Box Office this weekend bringing its total up to 49.3 million.
When all is said and done, I'm sure Lionsgate will be crying all the way to the bank.

Many of you know that this film proclaims to be "based on a true story."

What many of you may NOT know is that this film was based on a Discovery Channel documentary which was based on the true story.
That's a lot of degrees of "based on."

Some of the forums I've been reading proclaim the doc to be scarier than the film so you can watch for yourself at THIS YouTube link HERE and see what you think.
OR purchase it from the Amazon link below and watch it in crystal clear DVD clarifying clarity.

As a kid who grew up being terrified of television's "Real People" and "That's Incredible" ghost stories, I can totally see where cheesy TV special effects and dramatic creepy music can be the stuff of nightmares.
I still get shudders when I see this picture from the infamous "That's Incredible" "Haunted Toys R Us" segment.

Check it out and let me know your judgement.

Scary Apparel: Friday the 12th - Jason Gets Depressed

As we learned in Friday the 13th when Mrs. Voorhees says "You see Jason is my son... and today is his birthday..." it makes you wonder... what DOES Jason do when his birthday doesn't fall on a Friday?
Is he less celebratory?
Does he mope?
Is Jason a 'sad clown'?

This shirt is only $18.95 in both women's and men's through SnorgTees.com HERE.

Watch MORE Horror TV and Movies FOR FREE!

Just announced in the trades today: AMC has a new micro-site entitled BMC or "B-Movie Classics."

Boasting "Bikinis, Monsters, Motorcycles" and more, the site features full length films of unsung classics like "Hercules Unchained."

Of more interest to the Halloween Addict, there are such titles as: Asylum (written by Psycho scribe Robert Bloch), Corridors of Blood (featuring Boris Karloff and a young Christopher Lee) and What A Carve Up (featuring Halloween's own Donald Pleasance).
Other non-horror entries of note are John Carpenter's sci-fi parody Darkstar.

You can watch the movies right through the site, easy as pie. And of course, the movies are all FREE.

Want more FREE horror, thriller and sci-fi to watch? Check out my aptly titled article "Watch Horror TV and Movies for FREE" HERE.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some Saga of the Viking Women to watch.
What?
It's FREE.
Don't judge me.

NASA Spooky Space Sounds for Halloween

We know a few things about space:

1) It's the final frontier.
2) My God, it's full of stars.
3) No one can hear you scream in it.

Well those kooky guys over at NASA ---that's the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for those who are acronym challenged--- posted some Spooky Space Sounds for Halloween HERE.

I'm a sucker for weird creepy sounds from space but frankly the only one that was remotely creepy was the "ghostly planetary plasma" from -ahem- Uranus.
-snicker-

I guess Hollywood just does a better job at creeping me out. Like this "distress beacon" from the movie Sunshine HERE.

Which reminds me: Don't answer a distress call in space. Ever.
