Horn tooting time.
Back in June, Halloween Addict-follower and frequent poster "The Captain" nominated HalloweenAddict.com for The Gourdqueen's Scream Award.
What's the award for? Well The Gourdqueen says:
"[The Gourdqueen's Scream Award] is to be shared with anyone whose blog you just love. Whether it's their art, their interests, the things they share [or] you just simply love to visit their blog!"Well, Captain, I thank you and accept. HalloweenAddict.com was created to share my love of the Halloween holiday and spirit with anyone who cared to come along for the ride. So: Thanks for enjoying the ride.
If any of you haven't already, do check out The Captain's Ramblings HERE. He's already underway with great posts about Halloween and I believe will be partaking in the annual "Halloween Countdown" blog-fest.
In the Pay-It-Forward aspect of the award, here are my 10 picks for The Gourdqueen's Scream Award:
1) Freddy in Space
Johnny Boots had me with the name of the site alone. I discovered this blog a few months back and have returned over and over for coverage on horror movies to his current Halloween store purchases.
2) X-Entertainment
The blog I've been following for close to 8 years. One of the original sites to do a Halloween Countdown. I love Matt's writing style and his appreciation of pop culture in all forms (especially the dollar store).
3) Orange and Black
Another site that I pop on frequently and enjoy everything from the appreciation of old horror films to the simple-yet-slick crafts (like the jack o' lantern corks!).
4) Horror-Movie-A-Day
I couldn't believe that someone could watch a horror movie a day... every day... and WRITE about it. But it's true. Brian is relentless in his viewings, and his writing as well. I always check his site to get a no-bull review of a horror film I may not have seen.
5) Pumpkin Rot
I don't know how Pumpkin Rot finds all its spooky photography and images, but it does. I click on this site daily.
6) Plaid Stallions
If ever I'm looking for a picture of a 70s or 80s item that I can barely remember from childhood: Plaid Stallions has it. I can't even count the number of times I've read a post on an old toy that I used to have that made me go "Ohhhh YEAH. I HAD that! I loved that thing!"
7) Creepy LA
David has a great blog that caters to Los Angeles horror and Halloween celebrators. If you're not in the area, there's still plenty to appreciate (like then-and-now photos of Michael Jackson's Thriller video shooting locations!).
8) Vinnie Rattolle
I stumbled on Vinnie Rattolle and, like the header says, I never got out. Tons of rare and unreleased horror soundtracks and the like. Like a digital rummage sale where you discover something and go "Oh my god, look at THIS!"
9) The Horror Section
I worked in a video store as a teenager, one of the best jobs I've ever had.
Whenever I peruse the VHS tape covers on Jay's site I'm bombarded with flashbacks to good times.
10) Random Acts of Geekery
I loved John's site last October as it was a constant barrage of old comicbook covers, lobby cards, novelty toys and more.
These are my 10 picks as of today. If you asked me for 10 picks next week, I may give you a different 10.
My apologies if you've already received this award. You're just that much more awesome. Put the extra awesome in some tupperware for use later. Don't forget to burp the lid.
Then just last week, Wendy the Very Good Witch from the fantastic The Halloween Tree nominated Halloween Addict for the Kreativ Blogger award.Part of the conditions of my acceptance is that I must name 7 things about myself that no one would really know. Ok, here we go:
1) I've met both Jason AND Freddy. (Future post coming on that.)
2) I'm technically in Halloween H20 (Future post on that too.)
3) I've been to the stairs from The Exorcist. (Post coming.)
4) I think Martha Stewart has some good ideas... regarding Halloween decorating. There. I said it.
5) I've had something I've written published in Fangoria Magazine. (Guess what? Future post.)
6) I've been to Skywalker Ranch.
7) I hate flip flops.
And now, here are my 7 nominations for the Kreativ Blogger award:

http://scarstuff.blogspot.com/
http://secretfunspot.blogspot.com/
http://wonderfulwonderblog.blogspot.com/
http://childrensrecordsandmore.blogspot.com/
All of the above sites I have visited repeatedly over the years and gleaned fascinating information on Halloween, old scary records from my childhood, vintage toys and more.
Again, these are 7 off the top of my head. My apologies if I wasn't thinking of you at that very moment.
Lastly, just this weekend I found one of my posts "Vintage Halloween Tricks from 1964 Popular Science Magazine" got a couple votes on HorrorBlips.com. Always good to see Halloween Addict work get recognized by others who take a second to click a button to say "Hey that's cool."
End of horn tooting.
Beep, beep.

Wow - that is one jam-packed post!
Congrats on the awards! And a few of the sites you mentioned are frequent favorites of mine, too! The others I will be checking out right now.
Happy Halloween! :)
Wings: Thanks! It always seems that the posts that I think will be quick, short ones turn into lengthy tomes.
Thank you so much for the award! Halloween Addict rocks!!
Congrats, my friend. You deserve the accolades.
And I can't wait to read the plethora of "future article" teases you gave us. :-)
