Yahoo Movies got the exclusive trailer posting of the new Rob Zombie helmed sequel... to the remake-quel... to Halloween... entitled: H2.
All indicators from interviews with the former "shock rocker" say that this is going to be HIS film done HIS way. What you see on screen will be without any studio interference. Many are comparing the difference between Halloween and H2 to the difference between House of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects.
As someone who loves the original Halloween and understood and respected what Zombie did with the remake --even though I didn't really LIKE his choices-- I'm intrigued to see what he does unbridled. (You can read my thoughts on the Halloween re-imagining HERE.)
Though Zombie says it won't have anything to do with the original Halloween 2, there are a few things that are similar:
1) It's supposed to take place exactly where the last movie left off.
2) Scenes DO seem to take place in a hospital.
3) Some of the opening shots in the trailer give the film the "town" feel that Halloween 2 had.
What does NOT excite me are reports that Michael Myers does NOT have his mask for much of the film.
That... that is not kosher with me.
Will I go see it in the theater?
Yes I will.
Many would scream "Why???!! Why will you support something that you think you won't like??!!!"
Answer: Because I MIGHT.
I might like it.
I look at these movies like comic book issues. The original Halloween film spawned a few comic mini-series, sometimes one to three issues in length, that further told the exploits of Michael Myers in the Halloween world.
That's all these movies are to me.
Even if I don't like it, the original Halloween still sits on my shelf and I can watch it whenever I want.
AND by supporting the brand, I keep the Akkads in business so that someday I may get a Halloween movie that I really enjoy again.
Give the trailer a watch HERE, and surmise for yourself 'til the film hits theaters August 28th.
