Friday, February 13th - Friday the 13th Remake Released

Well the day has come.
Friday the 13th.
What to do... what to do... ?

Why not check out the new Friday the 13th remake from Platinum Dunes on the big screen today?!!

Well, thank you, I WILL.

As I've mentioned in other posts, I grew up on the F13 films.
Lots of trips to the video store.
Lots of rentals and re-rentals of the classics.
But the only ones I've seen in an ACTUAL theater, on the big screen, have been Jason X and Freddy Vs. Jason.
Whereas I enjoyed F Vs. J for what it was, Jason X certainly left me... er... saddened.

So the fact that I get to see a Friday the 13th (NOT a New Line owned "Jason" movie) on the big screen is an accomplishment in itself. But I also get to watch it ON FRIDAY THE 13TH.
Fantastic.
Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE the originals. But my favorites have always been Part 3 and upward.
Why?
The hockey mask.
So I'm excited to see how they cram parts 1, 2 and 3 into one movie.
PLUS: as the trailer has show us... Jason RUNS. Why--- we haven't seen such an advancement since zombies started---er, running.
THAT'S new.
THAT'S a way to make Jason scarier.
I'm listening, Platinum Dunes. I'm listening.

Now remember: all those who have already lit their torches, assembled an angry mob and are prepared to hate and picket and firebomb such a movie on principle... REMEMBER--- those classics are still there. They don't take them and throw them in the garbage when they remake them.
You can still watch them whenever you want.
In FACT, it took a remake being released for us to get 3 brand new DVD transfers of the first 3 films.

Wonderful. We have an embarrassment of horror riches, my friends.

So get out there and support. Who knows how soon we'll see our hockey masked friend in theaters again?
