'Go Green' Halloween Candy

While trolling the 'net for all things Halloween, I stumbled across Candyblog's Article on 'Green Halloween' candies. I had no idea there were so many different candies specifically made organically, vegan, kosher, gluten-free, etc.

Until Wonka starts making "Organic Mix-Ups" I may pick some of these up to have in my home candy dishes in October.

Check out the articles on Candyblog HERE.

Halloween Furniture: The Pumpkin Ottoman

Like any Halloween Addict I decorate the CRAP out of my place come late September. But it never even occurred to me to actually change your living situation to embrace Halloween.

Enter: the Pumpkin Ottoman.

Replace that leather or pleather or fabric covered footstool with an ottoman that looks like a pumpkin. No stem--- a matter of practicality really--- because how would you put your feet up or your tray down? But it does have a green leaf-like top to differentiate it from just a Florida orange.

My advice? Customize it with a black Sharpie or some fabric paint to turn it into a jack o' lantern. I mean if you're going to go, you go all the way right?

It's on sale RIGHT NOW for over 50% off on the Montgomery Ward website.

Halloween Photoshop Effect: The Evil Eye

While trolling the pumpkin patch called "the internet" today, I stumbled over this gem on dphototjournal.com.

Turn those humdrum pics of friends and family into pics of screeching deadite friends and family with this little tutorial.

Will You Survive a Zombie Apocalypse?

I know there's a million of these fun surveys on-line but I just stumbled across this one today.

I love these little 30 second work diversions.

Though I know the zombie rules I tried to answer truthfully and guess what?
I only had a 38% chance of survival.
Guess I better start training...

Costume Idea: Tentacle Arm

It's never too early to start planning for this year's Halloween costume. I mean, hey, as of today you've only got 284 days 'til the big day (less if the party you're attending is the weekend before Halloween).

Check out this Tentacle Arm from Gaia Online. It's a polyester sleeve with green suction cups on it.
Simple.
Fun.
Stupid.
Clever.
Buy a couple (they're only $15 apiece) and you're on your way to a sea monster, giant squid or transmogrified scientist.

Also could be fun just wearing it around the house and grabbing glassware and cans of tomatoes.

Your tentacle is what you make it.

Costume Idea: Gears of War

If you're an avid video gamer, you probably know of the awesome game Gears of War for the Xbox 360. Should you fancy wanting to dress up like one of the soldiers from the game, you'll need some great military gear... but what'll really sell the costume is a safe replica of the "Lancer" (combination gun/chainsaw weapon) from the game.

Follow this link to see an in-depth how-to on how to make such a prop from a Nerf gun and a toy chainsaw. It's quite involved but it's only January, so get to work and you'll be done by October.
